In Aktobe, a man devised an unusual scheme to defraud drivers. At a pedestrian crossing, he pretended to be a victim of a road accident and then demanded money for alleged injuries. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the regional police department, the man staged the scene at the intersection of Zhienbaev and Tashkent streets. He created the appearance that he had been hit by a car, after which he approached drivers and convinced them to pay for "treatment."
According to the investigation, the man managed to deceive two drivers in this way. One transferred 250,000 tenge to him via a mobile app, the second gave 200,000. The total damage amounted to 450,000 tenge.
One of the drivers later decided to contact the police. During the check, the information was confirmed. The man was recognized as a suspect.
"The case is undergoing the necessary investigative actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident," the department commented.

Police reminded Kazakhstanis: if after an alleged road accident a pedestrian demands money for alleged injuries, one should not resolve the issue independently.
In such a situation, it is necessary to call the police and officially record the circumstances of the incident.
