A court in Aktobe has concluded the trial of a teenager accused of killing his mother and attacking his grandmother. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the publication "Diapazon", the court found that the teenager suffers from a mental illness and ordered him to undergo compulsory treatment.

The tragedy

The tragedy occurred on December 2, 2025, in an apartment in the center of Aktobe. An 11th-grade student attacked his 41-year-old mother. The woman died. The teenager's 72-year-old grandmother was also injured — she was hospitalized, but her life was saved.

Neighbors heard screams from the apartment and called the police, after which the teenager was taken into custody.

Family background

According to information presented in court, before the tragedy the family was considered ordinary and well-off. The teenager attended a private school, performed well academically, and neighbors described him as a well-mannered boy. He has two younger brothers.

The trial itself took place without the teenager — he had been in a psychiatric hospital throughout the proceedings.

Expert opinions

An expert psychologist said that signs of the illness could have gone unnoticed by relatives. However, in her opinion, the school psychologist could have noticed them.

The teenager's grandmother, who was a victim in the case, said she had never noticed anything unusual about her grandson before.

"My grandson is good, he always helped me, played with the younger ones, I am very worried about him. There were no complaints about him. I don't know what happened that night," the woman said in court.

Court decision

The teenager was found guilty of murder and attempted murder. However, he will not receive criminal punishment due to his illness.

The court ordered him to undergo compulsory treatment in a psychiatric hospital.

Earlier, a court in the Akmola region sent a resident of the Arshaly district for compulsory treatment. He is accused of killing his own family.
