A 33-year-old resident of Aktobe has been detained on suspicion of extorting money from a man by threatening to file a false rape report. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the police department of Aktobe region, the man met the woman on TikTok. After a personal meeting, they entered into a close relationship. Some time later, according to the complainant, his new acquaintance began demanding money, threatening to file a rape complaint with law enforcement.
"Under the pressure of threats, the complainant had already given the woman 300,000 tenge. Later, the suspect demanded another 100,000 tenge, and during the transfer of that money, she was detained by officers of the organized crime control department. A pre-trial investigation has been launched under the article 'extortion,'" the police department reported.
Investigators are currently establishing all circumstances of the incident.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that a lawyer in Astana was suspected of extorting 80 million tenge from a construction company.
