In Aktobe region, 102 people were hospitalized with signs of intestinal infection after visiting the Tumar restaurant in the city of Kandyagash, Mugalzhar district. The first patients began seeking medical help on June 19. According to the Aktobe region health department, the affected individuals had visited the Tumar restaurant in Kandyagash.
"In connection with the registration of intestinal infection cases among citizens who visited the Tumar restaurant in Kandyagash, Mugalzhar district, an epidemiological investigation is being conducted. Since June 19, 2026, 102 patients with signs of intestinal infection have been hospitalized in the Mugalzhar district hospital and the regional clinical infectious diseases hospital. Of these, 34 patients have a probable case of salmonellosis. Emergency notifications have been sent to the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of Aktobe region, and material has been collected for bacteriological testing," the Aktobe region health department reported.
The condition of the hospitalized is assessed as moderate severity. Patients are receiving full necessary medical care.
An operational headquarters has been established to coordinate efforts. Additional medical teams were sent to Mugalzhar district, and hospitals prepared beds and necessary medication supplies.
The Aktobe region sanitary-epidemiological control department reported that specialists are conducting an epidemiological investigation with expertise. As part of the inspection, samples of food products and environmental objects were taken and sent for laboratory testing.
"In order to carry out anti-epidemic and preventive measures, the activity of the catering facility has been temporarily suspended until the circumstances are clarified," the Aktobe region sanitary-epidemiological control department reported.
Currently, specialists are awaiting laboratory results to identify the source of infection.
