In Aktobe region, a 61-year-old grandfather drowned while trying to save his 3-year-old grandson. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The incident occurred on June 25 in the Irgiz district. The three-year-old child fell into the water, and the grandfather jumped in to rescue him, but both drowned. Rescuers and medics arrived at the scene but could not save them.
Police are currently investigating the circumstances. The tragedy highlights the need for increased water safety measures, especially around children.
