In the Aktobe region, the head of the private enterprise "Kazenergy" was sentenced to 3 years and 9 months in prison for illegal business activities and legalization of criminally obtained money. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the investigation, the convicted person organized illegal processing of hazardous waste and production of furnace fuel on a production base with an area of 10 thousand square meters.
"Used oils, oil sludge and other oil-containing waste were used as raw materials. They were mixed with naphtha and processed using a circulation method," the report says.
The entrepreneur did not have the license and environmental permit required for processing, neutralizing and disposing of hazardous waste.
As a result, more than 11 million liters of furnace fuel were sold, and the criminal income amounted to 778 million tenge.
His property, in particular the production facility, vehicles and funds in bank accounts, was confiscated.
According to the Agency, the produced furnace fuel did not meet national quality standards and contained harmful chemicals.
The court verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
