A criminal case into 'ghost tours' is being investigated in the Aktobe region. Hundreds of tourists have been deceived. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the investigation, representatives of one travel company received money from over 200 clients for organizing vacations. People paid for tour packages, hotel bookings, and airline tickets, but never received the promised services.

As a result, many residents of the region were unable to go on their planned summer vacation.

"Currently, police officers are conducting a pre-trial investigation, establishing all the circumstances of the incident, the number of victims, and the amount of material damage caused," the Aktobe region police department reported.

The department reminded that during the holiday season, fraudsters often pose as representatives of travel companies. Typically, they attract clients with suspiciously low prices, demand urgent payment, and then stop communicating after receiving the money.

Earlier, the Aktobe region prosecutor's office reported that fraudsters sought their victims on social networks, offering clients a full package of services—from ticket purchases to accommodation booking.

The Aktobe region police department made a post about this case on its official Instagram page.

Law enforcement agencies urge citizens to be vigilant when planning trips and to contact only trusted tour operators. To prevent fraud, it is recommended to check the company's license, carefully read the contract, and avoid suspiciously low prices.
