New wind power plant to be built in Aktobe region
Akim of Aktobe region Askhat Shakharov discussed the construction of a new wind power plant in the region with the General Director of Plenitude Kazakhstan LLP (a subsidiary of Italian Eni S.p.A.) In May 2026, the company won an auction organized by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the right to build a wind power plant with a capacity of 100 MW.
"After the facility is commissioned, it will produce about 400 GWh of electricity per year. After the final investment decision is made, the project implementation is planned for 2026–2028," the statement said.
"For the Aktobe region, this project is a vivid example of successful cooperation between Kazakhstan and Italy in the field of 'green' energy. Its implementation fully corresponds to the strategic objectives for the development of renewable energy sources, the introduction of modern technologies, and ensuring sustainable economic growth," said the akim of the region.
Today, Italy is one of Kazakhstan's major trading partners among European Union countries. According to the results of 2025, trade turnover between the Aktobe region and Italy amounted to $182.8 million. Including exports – $165.1 million, and imports – $17.7 million.
