Residents of the Rakhat-2 residential complex in Aktau have complained about regular power outages during extreme heat. Due to blackouts, water supply also stops and elevators stop working. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to residents, the internal networks cannot withstand the high load, and the backup cable that was supposed to ensure uninterrupted power supply has not been laid.
The residential complex has about 800 apartments, housing approximately 1,500 people, including children and the elderly. When the electricity is cut off, residents of upper floors have to climb the stairs because the elevators do not work.
"If the lights are turned off, we have no water. Because now in all multi-storey buildings, water is supplied by pumps. And due to the lack of electricity, water supply stops. The upper floors are left without water. The very first request: fix the electricity issue," said resident Asyl Aldabergenkzy.
The management company reported that the interruptions began with the onset of summer. Due to voltage surges, four pumps have already failed.
"As soon as summer started, the electricity constantly goes out. The drinking water pumps stop working. Then the elevators stop. Since the beginning of summer, we have already burned out four pumps due to these outages. We repair them and reinstall them. But if this continues, all equipment will fail," said Meruert Kosherbayeva, head of the management company.
According to residents, the developer, who handed over the house four years ago, has not yet transferred the necessary documents to the electricity supply organization. Because of this, the lines are considered ownerless.
Residents have sent a collective appeal to the competent authorities, but the problem has not yet been resolved.
The Aktau akimat cited excessive load on the power grid as the main cause of the outages. To provide electricity to homes during peak hours, a backup cable is needed, but it is not available.
"The construction organization should have laid two cables in due time. However, today there is only one cable here. That is, there is no backup cable. Therefore, in the event of an outage, restoration work takes a certain time. Cable lines have already been purchased. According to the city's priority, work is underway to lay them," said Asset Baspayev, chief specialist of the Housing and Utilities Department of the Aktau akimat.
The akimat did not specify the exact completion date. However, officials promised to start laying the cable within a week.
