A nine-year-old boy from Aktau has undergone two surgeries and lost most of his lower jaw after dental treatment. The child's family believes that medical errors caused the incident. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the boy's mother, Akmaral Kalzhanova, she brought her son Nuradil for a preventive check-up at the Mangystau Regional Dental Center in February 2026. The child had no complaints of pain, but after the examination, he was referred for treatment under anesthesia.

The woman claims that the doctors did not take an X-ray before the procedure and did not place a filling after treatment. A follow-up appointment was scheduled for two weeks later. Later, the woman noticed that the medical records indicated the treatment was completed, but there was no information about the appointment in the electronic databases.

The boy continued treatment, including several applications of arsenic paste. After that, he developed severe pain and facial swelling. The boy was only advised to rinse his mouth with saline solution.

The purulent-inflammatory process caused destruction of part of the lower jaw. Subsequently, the boy's tooth fell out along with a fragment of bone. Then Nuradil was sent to Astana, where doctors diagnosed osteomyelitis and sequestration of the lower jaw. During two surgeries, surgeons removed about 15 grams of destroyed bone tissue. According to his mother, about 60-70% of the lower jaw is now destroyed.

The child cannot chew normally, eats pureed food, and due to the high risk of complications, he is prohibited from active physical exertion. Doctors will be able to fully restore the jaw only after he grows up.

After the family's appeal, the Mangystau Regional Health Department conducted an internal investigation. As a result, two dentists were reprimanded for identified violations.

However, Akmaral Kalzhanova considers the punishment insufficient. She has filed a complaint with the police demanding a pre-trial investigation.
