In Aktau, about 10,000 cubic meters of water have been pumped from the streets following prolonged rains, the city akimat reported. Utility services continue to eliminate the consequences of the bad weather in an enhanced mode. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Continuous rains that began on November 7 led to the accumulation of large amounts of water in 11 areas of the city. On some roads, water hindered traffic.
About 20 units of special equipment and around 50 workers were involved in the pumping efforts.
"Special equipment and road workers from municipal state institutions, the Department of Emergency Situations, as well as a contractor organization are involved in the work. We ask residents to treat temporary inconveniences with understanding," said city akim Maksat Mukash.
Water was pumped out at the intersection of the 17th and 18A microdistricts, near the Khazar bazaar, between the 29th and 29A, the 13th and 15th, as well as the 11th and 14th microdistricts.
About 10,000 cubic meters of rainwater were removed following the day and night shifts. The akimat reported that pumping will continue continuously, including at night.
The situation is under the control of the responsible services. In addition to pumping water, work continues to restore order to the roads.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that in January, microdistricts of Aktau were also flooded after rain and snow. To pump water from streets and pedestrian zones, utility services used sewage trucks and motor pumps.
