A man has been detained in the Mangystau region on suspicion of extorting money from a local resident. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to preliminary information, the suspect, using force and threats, demanded 300,000 tenge from a resident of Aktau in exchange for not disseminating information damaging to his reputation.
On 1 October, during operational search activities, the suspect was detained after receiving part of the demanded money.
During a personal search, marked banknotes were found on him and seized.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched into this fact under Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code.
The suspect has been placed in a temporary detention facility.
Comprehensive investigative and operational measures aimed at establishing all circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
