A fraudster who promised to improve academic performance has been sentenced in Aktau. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
By the verdict of the Aktau city court, the man was found guilty of fraud (Article 190 of the Criminal Code) and sentenced to 3 years and 9 months of imprisonment.
The court established that the convicted man gained the trust of students at higher educational institutions in Aktau and promised, for a monetary reward, to improve their academic performance and help them get high grades on exams.
"Under this pretext, he took possession of students' money ranging from 90,000 to 1 million tenge. However, he did not fulfill his promises and spent the money on personal needs," the statement said.
Ahead of the new academic year, the Aktau prosecutor's office urges citizens not to trust people offering paid "help" in illegally interfering in the educational process, such as promising to set grades, help pass exams, or resolve other issues.
