A children's surgeon was arrested in Aktau after the death of a child. The Mangystau region police department explained the doctor's detention. He is suspected of improper performance of his professional duties, Lada writes. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Police data
According to police, doctors at the regional hospital made mistakes in diagnosing and treating the child. Due to a sharp deterioration in the patient's condition, he was urgently taken by air ambulance to Almaty. But despite the doctors' attempts, the child could not be saved; he died in the hospital.
"According to the conclusion of the commission forensic medical examination, when providing medical care to the minor, shortcomings were identified that could contribute to the development of complications," the publication quotes the police response.
Police explained that the pre-trial investigation continues, and a set of measures is being carried out to establish all the circumstances of what happened.
Support for the doctor
At the same time, the deputy director of the Mangystau multidisciplinary hospital, Umit Ilyasova, spoke out in support of the detained surgeon. She wrote about this in an appeal to the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Internal Affairs on her Facebook page.
"A children's surgeon who saved thousands of children has been detained. And, as colleagues said, they want to detain others as well. Legal lawlessness is again happening in the Mangystau region. They called him supposedly to give testimony and detained him, they did not notify our lawyer. There are no grounds for detention," she wrote.
It is reported that the surgeon was detained on Thursday, October 1, under Article 128 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Grounds for detention). The doctor is currently in a pre-trial detention center.
Background
Recall that the tragedy occurred in the spring of this year. A resident of Aktau, Zhuldyz Azanova, accused doctors of the death of her 13-year-old son. According to the woman, it was because of a mistake by medics that the teenager ended up in a serious condition and later died.
After the mother demanded that those responsible be punished, the Ministry of Health conducted a large-scale inspection at the children's regional hospital, after which the prosecutor's office opened a criminal case.
