In Aktau, police detained a man who came to receive a parcel with a large batch of drugs. Inside the shipment were more than 33.5 kilograms of marijuana. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to Polisia.kz, the operation was carried out by officers of the Drug Crime Control Department of the West Kazakhstan region together with colleagues from the Mangystau region.
According to the investigation, a 41-year-old man organized a drug supply channel from the Zhambyl region to the western regions of the country. Cargo transportation services were used to transport the prohibited cargo, and the batch itself was disguised as an ordinary parcel.
The suspect was caught red-handed while receiving the shipment in Aktau.
During the inspection of the parcel, police found two bags of plant-based substance. The examination confirmed that it was dried marijuana. The total weight of the seized drug exceeded 33.5 kilograms.
"According to the investigation, the batch was intended for further distribution in the western regions of Kazakhstan. A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the incident," the West Kazakhstan Police Department reported.
The police noted that thanks to the operation, it was possible to prevent a large batch of drugs from entering illegal circulation.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote about a man detained in East Kazakhstan with 2.8 kg of marijuana and 1 million tenge.
