Police in Aktau detained a 41-year-old man suspected of organizing a drug supply channel from Zhambyl region to western Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the operation was carried out by officers of the Drug Crime Control Department of the West Kazakhstan Region Police Department together with colleagues from the Mangystau Region.
The suspect was caught red-handed while receiving a package in Aktau. The Ministry noted that the services of a transport company were used to transport the prohibited cargo, and the drugs were disguised as an ordinary shipment.
"The suspect was detained red-handed in Aktau while receiving the package. During inspection, two bags with a substance of plant origin were found," the Ministry reported.
Expert examination determined that the seized substance was dried marijuana. The total weight of the drug exceeded 33.5 kilograms.
According to the investigation, the detainee organized the supply of drugs from Zhambyl region, and the seized batch was intended for further distribution in the western regions of the country.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched.
