Ecologists have launched an investigation after another mass stranding of seals on Aktau beaches. Specialists from the Mangystau Regional Ecology Department reported that they have taken seawater samples and will determine the cause of death of the animals. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the department, the carcasses were found on July 3 of this year on the city's beaches. Currently, work is underway to establish their exact number and account for them.

The Ecology Department noted that additional information will be provided after the results of the sample analysis are obtained.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that dead seals continue to be found on the Caspian coast.

According to the Mangystau Regional Ecology Department, on June 1, another 20 dead seals were found on the coastline.

"On the coastal section from the desalination plant to the 'KCA' shore in the village of Bautino, 20 seal carcasses and 8 sturgeon fish carcasses were found," the department reported.

On June 2, specialists from the laboratory and analytical control department took water samples on the sea coast of Fort-Shevchenko in the Tupkaragan district.

The research results were promised to be reported additionally.
