A criminal case has been opened over the deaths of service members during exercises in the Aktau garrison. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, an operational investigative team has been formed. Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and prosecutor's offices are working at the scene. Necessary forensic examinations have been ordered. The investigation is under special control.
Recall that an emergency occurred during exercises in the Mangystau region, and 9 people died. According to preliminary data, on September 24, due to a sharp deterioration in weather and increased wind, a wave swept 19 service members into the Caspian Sea. Currently, 9 of them, unfortunately, have died.
Three service members were rescued, one of them was hospitalized. The search for the others is ongoing.
