Major renovation of the apron continues at Aktau International Airport. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan, the work, which has been ongoing since 2024, does not affect flight schedules.
The first stage has already been completed — in July 2025, the runway and taxiways were renewed.
The second stage has been underway since May 2026. Currently, the apron and perimeter facilities are being repaired.
"As of today, 90% of the apron work has been completed. The installation of the remaining pavement, perimeter fencing, and additional lighting continues. All work is planned to be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2026," the ministry clarified.
The Ministry of Transport noted that after the renovation, the airport will be able to receive all types of aircraft, including category "F" — the world's largest. The number of parking spaces will also increase, and conditions for servicing heavy cargo flights will improve.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Aktau Airport would be able to perform direct cargo transportation to European Union countries. In February 2026, the airport was granted the European aviation security status RA3 (Regulated Agent Third Country).
And the day before, Kazakh low-cost carrier FlyArystan announced a promotion on the new international route Aktau – Urumqi. The one-way ticket price starts from 41,000 tenge.
