The US State Department has approved a decision to sell Ukraine's government air defense modernization equipment, services and related items. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The department's statement put the estimated cost of the sale at $2.68 billion.
Who will cover the costs
The expenses will be covered by funds from European partners and under the US Foreign Military Financing program.
It was reported that funds allocated under the program are counted as the US contribution to the Ukraine recovery fund.
What Ukraine requested
According to the State Department, the Ukrainian government requested air defense systems with missiles and laser guidance systems, as well as improvised launchers and radars.
