A five-time US giant pumpkin contest winner, Travis Gienger from Minnesota, has taken home the top prize at the annual pumpkin weighing event in Half Moon Bay, California. His whopping gourd tipped the scales at 2,389 pounds (1,083kg). This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing BBC News.
Gienger told the BBC he would "love" to break the world record for a second time.
He hauled his pumpkin from Minnesota to California for the competition. But Gienger says he is eyeing off a different prize – the world record title.
The world record was set last week on England's south coast with a squash weighing in at 2,857 pounds (1,300kg).
As a previous holder of the world-record mantle, Gienger says he is focused on the challenge ahead.
