The US State Department has announced the issuance of limited-edition commemorative passports ('Patriot Passport') for the 250th anniversary of independence, featuring a portrait of Donald Trump on the inside cover. This is the first time in US history that a sitting president has been depicted on an official document. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

"This special passport features original artwork and enhanced images on the front, back, and inside covers. It has all the same advanced security features that make the US passport the most secure travel and identity document in the world. The Department now offers Americans nationwide the opportunity to apply for one of these 250,000 special and historic passports," the State Department said in a statement.

Initially, issuance was limited to Washington, D.C., but the State Department expanded the initiative by organizing special application days at regional passport agencies across the country, including Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, and Los Angeles.

Design: The inside cover features a portrait of Donald Trump, the text of the Declaration of Independence, and his signature in gold embossing.

Status: The document has full legal force as an international US passport.

Cost: Processing is done at the standard passport fee rate with no additional surcharge for the commemorative version.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that Trump's signature would also appear on $100 banknotes.

It also reported that the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) gifted President Trump an exclusive ring with 321 natural diamonds in honor of the 250th anniversary of US independence.
