US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced on social media the arrest of a man. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the agency, he was arrested on June 5 with the support of federal partners. Law enforcement said the man was on a list of known or suspected terrorists. In summer 2025, a US immigration court ordered his deportation, but he failed to appear in court and remained in the country.

Deputy Foreign Minister Yerzhan Ashikbayev responded to journalists' questions on the matter. "Tens and hundreds of Kazakhstanis abroad are experiencing various situations; I cannot physically recall all of them. We, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will get back to you later," Ashikbayev said.

The detained Kazakh citizen is currently in custody. He will remain there until the deportation documents from the United States are finalized. Sputnik Kazakhstan has sent inquiries to the National Security Committee and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
