The United States has temporarily eased sanctions on Russian fuel. This came after Russia agreed to supply 300,000 tonnes of diesel to the global market. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
US President Donald Trump announced the move, according to Reuters. According to Trump, additional fuel supplies are expected later. The decision was made amid rising prices for diesel, which is used in agriculture, for home heating and freight transport.
Earlier, the 47th US president spoke of a successful conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to him, Russia will immediately supply more than 300,000 tonnes of diesel, another 500,000 tonnes in November and 1 million tonnes after that. In addition, depending on the condition of Russian oil refineries, another 3 million tonnes of fuel are expected to be supplied within a short time.
"Between our complete control of the Strait of Hormuz and this important news about energy resources from Russia, diesel prices for Americans and the whole world will fall at record rates and quickly!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.
According to him, lower fuel prices are especially important for farmers, ranchers and truckers and are one of the main priorities of his administration.
The fuel price situation also has political significance for the Trump administration. On November 3, the US will hold midterm elections to Congress, the results of which will determine whether Republicans retain their majority in both chambers.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Trump refused to bomb Iran before the midterm elections to Congress.
