In the second half, Balogun was sent off in the 64th minute after a VAR review. Despite being down to 10 men, Malik Tillman doubled the lead with a free kick in the 82nd minute.

Bosnia's captain Edin Džeko left the field due to injury in the second half. The USA will face Belgium in the round of 16 on July 7 in Seattle.
