The Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan has commented on the US decision to impose additional customs duties. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Starting July 24, 2026, an additional customs duty of 12.5% is introduced on certain goods produced in Kazakhstan. This measure does not apply to goods included in the list of exceptions approved by the US Trade Representative.
According to the ministry, the previously applied temporary import surcharge of 10% has expired due to the end of the established 150-day period. Therefore, the previous surcharge is not added to the new customs duty.
According to calculations by the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, approximately 95% of Kazakh exports to the US remain unaffected by the additional customs duty.
The Ministry of Trade and Integration continues to interact with the US side to protect the interests of Kazakh exporters and achieve mutually beneficial solutions.
