The peace agreement between the US and Iran will be signed at a hotel in the Bürgenstock resort in the Swiss Alps, the Swiss Foreign Ministry announced. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The resort was proposed as a meeting venue by Pakistani and Qatari mediators. The hotel is located in a remote area, making it easier to ensure security measures.
AFP news agency recalls that the Memorandum of Understanding between the US and Iran has already been signed digitally.
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul predicted that despite the agreement, negotiations on Tehran's nuclear program will be protracted.
The document is "a step in the right direction," the minister said on the program RTL — Nachtjournal Spezial. However, on the "main issue, namely excluding the possibility of Iran's nuclear armament," discussions will have to continue for quite some time, he believes.
Earlier, it was reported that the US and Iran on June 14 agreed on a framework agreement to end the war. The agreement includes, among other things, extending the ceasefire, opening the Strait of Hormuz, and further negotiations, including on Tehran's nuclear program. The exact content of the agreement remains largely unknown.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that the US refused to provide Israel with the full text of the forthcoming memorandum of understanding with Iran. According to N12 television, Tel Aviv requested the text of the memorandum to be signed, but the American side refused, leaving Israel still without full information on the document's content.
