The US and Europe are working on a new plan to settle the conflict in Ukraine. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The plan includes lifting sanctions on Russia, investing in Ukraine's reconstruction and a ceasefire along the frontline. This was written by the American newspaper The Washington Post, citing an American official.
"The US and Europe are slowly advancing toward developing a common peace plan that would serve as a basis for a territorial settlement, bring financial benefits to Ukraine and Russia and ensure their security. The plan consists of four main components," the publication wrote.
First direction – Ukraine's reconstruction
According to the publication, the World Bank and the international investment management corporation BlackRock are interested in investing in the reconstruction of Ukraine's economy. They are reportedly planning to develop a basis to cover many of Volodymyr Zelensky's financial needs. However, as the publication writes, Kyiv has not yet calculated how much funding this will require.
Security guarantees
Also, the US and Europe intend to offer Kyiv security guarantees similar to Article 5 of the NATO Charter. According to the official, within the framework of the plan, Europe will also agree on measures to ensure security in the region with Russia.
Energy agreement
The third direction of the plan is the economic integration of Russia, Ukraine and Europe through an energy agreement. According to the publication, one option could be a pipeline delivering Russian oil and gas to Europe. The profit from it will be divided between Russia and Ukraine.
Lifting sanctions
In addition, the settlement plan provides for specific timelines and conditions for lifting sanctions against Russia.
Ceasefire
The final part of the plan is a ceasefire along the current frontline.
