Democrats in the US Congress are planning to develop a new security assistance package for Ukraine, Financial Times reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

«Democrats in the Capitol are working to shape a new security assistance package for Ukraine. An aide to one of the Democrats on the House Foreign Affairs Committee said its size could be around $15 billion,» the article says.

According to the publication, supporters of Ukraine hope that some form of assistance to Ukraine will be considered before January, when Congress begins work in its new composition.

From March 2022 to December 2024, Washington provided Kyiv with military assistance totaling about $43.4 billion. After the change of power in the White House, arms deliveries from US Department of Defense arsenals were halted. The last such aid package was announced on January 9, 2025. Since then, arms deliveries to Ukraine have been carried out only under long-term contracts previously concluded under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI).
