The US government is developing a plan to deport Iranian citizens to the Central African Republic (CAR), Reuters reported, citing sources. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Reuters.

Under the plan, Iranians illegally present in the US would be sent to the CAR. This step is part of a broader tightening of US immigration policy. According to sources, the decision has not yet been officially announced, and specific timelines are unclear.

Reuters obtained the information from three sources within the US administration and immigration circles. One source said the plan was "preliminarily agreed upon." However, the CAR government has not yet issued an official response.

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) did not confirm the report. The deportations could take place amid strained US-Iran relations.
