US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in an article on the Substack platform, said the US plans to fully dismantle the International Criminal Court (ICC), as it considers it a threat to sovereignty. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
In his statement, Rubio said: "The US is starting a simple diplomatic campaign: sovereign states are above globalization... Using all the tools at our government's disposal and working shoulder to shoulder with every ally with whom we can find common ground, we will dismantle the International Criminal Court 'brick by brick' if necessary."
Rubio also called on US allies not to stand aside and to join forces in this campaign against the ICC. According to Rubio, the ICC is run by a network of "left-wing non-governmental organizations, selfish globalists, and unfriendly governments of the third world" united by hostility to the US.
The ICC also threatens American soldiers, border guards, and politicians by attempting to usurp power and placing itself above the US Constitution and the American judicial system, the head of US diplomacy wrote in the article.
It is worth noting that the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC) is not recognized by countries home to more than half of the world's population.
