The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said it is investigating another outbreak of cyclosporiasis. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Reuters.
The FDA stated that the source of the outbreak is currently unknown. Cyclosporiasis is an intestinal infection caused by the parasite Cyclospora, typically transmitted through contaminated food or water. Symptoms include watery diarrhea, abdominal cramps, nausea, and fatigue.
This is one of several cyclosporiasis outbreaks in the US in recent years. The FDA continues its investigation to identify the source of the infection.
