A resident of the Akmola region lost about 10 million tenge after trusting an acquaintance who promised to help buy an apartment in Astana. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to law enforcement, several years ago the acquaintance offered the woman to buy an apartment in the capital, which was allegedly under arrest. She claimed that the registration of the property would require time and additional expenses.
Since 2022, the victim has repeatedly transferred money to her.
"The suspect explained that the funds were needed for various contributions, payment for services, and resolving organizational issues," police reported.
Over several years, the total amount transferred reached about 10 million tenge. However, the woman never received the promised apartment and could not get her money back.
After that, the victim turned to the police.
A criminal case on fraud has been opened. Currently, investigators are conducting investigative measures and establishing all circumstances of the case.
