Police in the Atbasar district of the Akmola region have identified a 25-year-old man who took out a loan in a close relative's name without permission. This was reported by the regional police department. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The woman filed a complaint with the police on October 2. According to the victim, a 2 million tenge loan was taken out in her name in 2025. However, she only learned about it a year later, when the bank began calling with warnings about repaying the debt. The woman said she had not applied for any loan.

"During the investigation, police established that her 25-year-old nephew may have been involved in the incident. It turned out that last year the young man asked his relative for a phone for personal use. The phone had access to a banking app," the statement said.

According to police, the suspect made loan payments for several months. As a result, the woman only found out about the loan in her name when the bank called with a warning.

A criminal case has been opened on fraud charges over the incident. All circumstances of the case are currently being established.
