A resident of Akmola region lost 3.1 million tenge that he had saved to buy a car from Georgia. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the regional police department, in October 2024, the victim's fellow villager took 3.1 million tenge from him, promising to help purchase a Toyota Highlander from Georgia.
However, the promised car was never bought, and the money was not returned to its owner.
The police statement reads: "A criminal case has been initiated upon the victim's application. Currently, police officers are establishing all circumstances of the incident and conducting necessary investigative actions."
The police urge citizens not to give large sums of money to strangers or even acquaintances through transactions not formalized with documents.
