Four people died and three more were injured in a collision of two cars in the Akmola region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The accident occurred on August 12 at the 16th km of the Kokshetau-Atbasar highway, the regional police department reported.

According to preliminary data, the driver of a Mini Cooper drove into the oncoming lane and collided with an Audi.

Victims and injured

"As a result of the accident, the driver and three passengers of the Audi died at the scene. Three more people in the Mini Cooper were taken to a medical facility with various injuries," police said.

The Mini Cooper driver was detained. A criminal investigation has been launched into the fatal accident.

According to the HALYQSTAN Telegram channel, the accident occurred on the road between Kokshetau and Zerenda. This section of the road is being reconstructed with the expansion of the roadway; in the future, three-lane reversible traffic is planned here. The project has not yet been completed; there is no road marking on a significant part of the highway.

Police and emergency services are working at the scene.
