Seven children were hospitalized with food poisoning at a recreation camp in the Akmola region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The incident occurred on June 30. Seven children vacationing at the camp were taken to the hospital with symptoms of food poisoning. Their condition is stable, and they are under medical supervision.
According to the regional health department, the children received emergency medical care. Currently, there is no threat to their health.
The police department reported that a criminal case has been opened into the incident. The investigation will determine the causes of the poisoning. Camp administration and cafeteria staff are being questioned.
The regional education department has established a special commission to inspect the sanitary and epidemiological conditions at the camp. The commission will check the cafeteria's operations, food preparation technology, and storage conditions.
Parents have been informed about their children's condition. Some of them visited the hospital and met with their children. The health of the remaining children at the camp is not at risk, and they continue their vacation.
This is not the first mass poisoning incident in the Akmola region. Last year, several children were also poisoned at a similar camp. Therefore, the regional akimat plans to conduct additional inspections at all recreation camps.
Law enforcement agencies are conducting investigative measures to identify those responsible for the poisoning. If the perpetrators are identified, they will face criminal liability.
