A fact of embezzlement of budget funds allocated for road repairs has been revealed in Bulandy district of Akmola region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, in 2023 a contract was signed between the Department of Housing and Communal Services and a contractor for the average repair of intra-village roads in Nikolskoye village, 5.4 km long, for 167.8 million tenge.
The contract expired in December 2024, and 103 million tenge of budget funds were spent.
"As a result of the inspection, it was established that work worth 78 million tenge was not performed, and these funds were used for purposes other than road repairs," the statement said.
Therefore, a pre-trial investigation has been launched against the former head of the district department of housing and communal services and the heads of the contractor organization on the fact of embezzlement of budget funds on an especially large scale.
