A 15-year-old teenager who climbed onto a railway car in the village of Shortandy in the Akmola region was struck by high-voltage electric current. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The teenager, who suffered burns to approximately 70 percent of his body, was taken to the intensive care unit of the district hospital in serious condition.

«Currently, the patient's condition is serious. For now, it is impossible to transport him to another medical facility. A consultation with a pediatric resuscitator was held, and by decision of the medical council, it was decided to keep the teenager under observation in the district hospital until his condition stabilizes,» the health department reported.

In connection with the incident, the Transport Police Department has opened a criminal case.

It is noted that climbing onto railway cars is extremely dangerous to human life. Even without direct contact with high-voltage wires, an electric shock can occur through an electric arc.
