A resident of Zhaksy District in Akmola Region has been sentenced to 100 hours of community service for animal cruelty. The man killed a dog after it bit his partner, the Zhaksy District Court reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to case materials, the dog bit the woman on the leg in the yard of an acquaintance's house. Upon learning of this, the man became angry, took an axe and went to the house.

"Having called the dog over, he struck it twice on the head," the court reported.

According to the veterinarian's conclusion, the animal died from the injuries sustained.

In court, the man pleaded guilty and repented. His guilt was also confirmed by the testimony of the dog's owner and witnesses, the expert conclusion, a video recording and other case materials.

The case was considered under Part 2 of Article 316 of the Criminal Code — animal cruelty resulting in the animal's death. When imposing the punishment, the court took into account the guilty plea, repentance and the property status of the defendant: he is unemployed.

The man was sentenced to 100 hours of community service. The injured party did not file a civil claim. The verdict has entered into legal force.
