A 5-year-old child was found in the Astrakhan district of the Akmola region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The incident occurred on June 17. According to police, the child was alone in the evening.
"It has been preliminarily established that the bodily injuries were inflicted by the child's paternal uncle. During the pre-trial investigation, all possible versions of the incident will be checked, including those voiced by the child's parents," police said.
A pre-trial investigation is underway on charges of torture and failure to fulfill duties in raising a minor. The child is currently receiving treatment at a medical facility.
Doctors say his condition was serious upon admission.
"The child was brought to one of the district hospitals last week. He has bruises on his body, is hungry, and has been neglected. He is now in the hospital, and the ward is guarded by police officers for his safety," the Akmola region health department reported.
