In the Zerendi district of the Akmola region, one of the hunters accidentally shot his companion. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The incident occurred on September 6. According to social media posts, six people went hunting for roe deer. One of the hunters carelessly fired a shot backwards from his rifle.

The bullet hit a 64-year-old man standing behind him. He died on the spot from his injuries.

The police have opened a criminal case. A pre-trial investigation is underway. The gun owner has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.

According to the police department of the Akmola region, the rifle belonged to a resident of Kokshetau.
