Apple will hold a presentation of new products on September 9. The company is expected to show the next iPhone series and possibly its first foldable smartphone, according to Reuters. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
New leadership
The event will be the first major presentation under Apple's new CEO, John Ternus. He will take over the company on September 1, while Tim Cook will move to the role of executive chairman.
Ternus has led Apple's hardware development for many years. Analysts see his appointment as a sign that the company intends to focus on its core specialization—creating devices.
Foldable iPhone
According to analysts, the first foldable iPhone Ultra could feature a display comparable in size to the iPad mini screen. Most analysts expect the foldable iPhone to start at $2,000-2,500 (about 917,000 – 1.15 million tenge).
The release of such a device would be a significant step for Apple. The company hopes that premium gadgets will increase the average product price and profit.
Currently, Samsung Electronics remains the leader in the foldable smartphone market. In July, the South Korean company introduced a new foldable phone the size of a passport, aiming to maintain its position ahead of Apple's entry into this segment.
Research firm IDC forecasts that by 2027, Apple could ship more than 17 million foldable iPhones.
iPhone 18 Pro
In addition to the foldable smartphone, Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The new models may feature a more powerful processor, upgraded cameras, and longer battery life.
According to The Verge, the presentation may focus on premium smartphones. The base iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and the second generation of iPhone Air are reportedly expected only in 2027.
Price concerns
Price remains one of the key questions. Due to rising component costs, including memory, Apple may significantly increase prices.
These are estimated prices for base versions with 256 GB in the US, excluding tax. In Kazakhstan, at launch, they could cost approximately 650–750 thousand tenge and 700–800 thousand tenge, respectively.
Apple will announce the exact price only at the presentation.
Supply chain issues
Electronics manufacturers continue to face a shortage of memory chips and storage. The deficit leads to higher device costs and reduced consumer demand.
Apple has already raised prices on some Mac and iPad models. In July, the company warned of "very significant" supply chain problems that could negatively impact sales in the current quarter.
In 2025, Apple introduced a thinner iPhone Air and expanded the feature set of the base iPhone 17 models. The new lineup helped the company accelerate the smartphone upgrade cycle among buyers.
