Anissa Helou, 74, one of the Middle East's most acclaimed cooks and food writers, has released a new book. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.
The book focuses on traditional dishes from Lebanese villages that have been scarred by war. Helou presented the book at a ceremony at the Lebanese Ministry of Tourism. She also prepared awarma, a traditional Lebanese lamb confit, and signed copies of her book at her late mother's apartment in the Mount Lebanon town of Ballouneh.
Helou said the book helps preserve the culinary heritage of villages destroyed during the war. She noted that behind each recipe lies the story of a village.
