Kazakhstani swimmers finished without medals on the first day of competition at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan. The only athlete to reach a final was Aibat Myrzamuratov. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
He competed in the 200m individual medley. In the decisive race, Myrzamuratov finished seventh with a time of 2:00.37.
Gold was won by Japan's Tomoyuki Matsushita – 1:55.30. His compatriot Yumeki Kojima was just 0.06 seconds behind and took second – 1:55.36. The bronze medal went to China's Wang Shun – 1:57.14.

The other Kazakhstani athletes finished their performances in the preliminary stage. In the 100m freestyle, Maxim Klimenko showed the 13th result, Adilbek Musin took 16th place.
Alexander Rumynsky competed in the qualification for the 100m backstroke and finished 17th, also failing to reach the final.
The XX Summer Asian Games in Japan officially opened yesterday, September 19.
