The AMANAT party has officially withdrawn from the upcoming Kurultai elections. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) held a meeting on the upcoming Kurultai elections. During the meeting, Vice Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan Botagoz Zhakselekova spoke. She stated that the result of ongoing political reforms is the consistent improvement of legislation on political parties and the further development of a multi-party system.
According to the Vice Minister, in 2022 the registration threshold was lowered to 5,000 members and the conditions for creating parties were significantly simplified.
"The practice of recent years confirms the effectiveness of the legislative reforms. After lowering the registration threshold, three new political parties were registered, which indicates the expansion of citizens' opportunities to exercise their constitutional right to association," she said.
The Vice Minister also noted that currently eight political parties are registered in Kazakhstan. One of them is the AMANAT party.
"The congresses of political parties have decided to join the AMANAT party to the 'Adilet' party. Currently, necessary organizational and legal measures are being carried out," said Zhakselekova.
Summing up her speech, CEC Chairman Nurlan Abdirov announced that the Central Election Commission had received an official letter from the AMANAT party stating that the party would not participate in the upcoming Kurultai elections.
This decision is related to the process of joining the party to the 'Adilet' party. The congress of the AMANAT party made a decision on merger; currently, necessary organizational and legal procedures are being carried out.
According to CEC Chairman Nurlan Abdirov, the official letter from the AMANAT party about non-participation in the elections was received by the commission in a timely manner. The decision was made in accordance with the law and duly formalized.
As part of political reforms in Kazakhstan, the threshold for party registration was lowered, paving the way for new parties. Since 2022, three new political parties have been registered, indicating the development of a multi-party system in the country.
The decision of the AMANAT party to join the 'Adilet' party and not participate in the Kurultai elections is a continuation of political reforms. This process is carried out in accordance with the law and is monitored by relevant authorities.
Preparations for the Kurultai elections continue. The CEC is taking all necessary measures to ensure the openness and fairness of the upcoming elections.
