Almaty plans to update the rules for organizing parking space. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the new project, residents of apartment buildings will be able to park one car free of charge at a municipal parking lot located within a 500-meter radius of their residence. In this case, a specific parking spot is not assigned. This approach allows for efficient use of parking space.

The project also establishes uniform requirements for parking equipment, operating hours, and payment methods. Compliance with the rules is planned to be monitored using mobile and stationary photo-video recording systems, said akimat representatives.

For the convenience of drivers, the grace period is preserved. In particular, 5 free minutes are provided for boarding and disembarking passengers at parking lots along sidewalks. And 10 free minutes are provided for exiting lot parking areas.

As before, war veterans, people with disabilities, mothers with many children, electric vehicle owners, and emergency service vehicles are fully exempt from parking fees.
