Over 200 tonnes of apples will be brought to Almaty for City Day. On 19 and 20 September, the 16th annual Alma Qala festival will take place in the city centre, where farmers will present various apple varieties, including the Almaty aport. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The main venue of the festival will be the intersection of Panfilov and Kazybek Bi streets. There, farms will present apples of various varieties grown in the farms of the Almaty agglomeration. Visitors will be able not only to buy the fruit but also to compare its colour, aroma, density and taste.
In total, 10 themed venues will be organised at the festival. In the national zone, folklore groups, ethnic ensembles and kui performers will perform. On the theatre stage, productions by Almaty theatres, children's performances will be shown and readings will be held.
A separate space with animators, games and creative workshops will be equipped for children. At the artisans' venue, more than 50 producers will present their works. Guests will also be able to try their hand at carving, weaving, painting, modelling and jewellery making.
At the gastronomic venue, local producers will present jams, preserves, pastila, dried fruits, apple chips, honey, kurt and other products. In the Digital zone, a digital museum of Almaty will be created and they will tell about how the city is changing together with technology.
The music programme of the festival is also designed for two days. On 19 September, Ali Okapov, Madi Rymbayev, Nurgalym Amanbay, Nurmukhammed Zhakyp, Akerke Amalyat, Karim Muturganov, Zhas-Mukhasan and ILIGAI will perform. On 20 September, Sanat Asuat, Dana Maksimova, DARO, Nurayym Gimran, Aruzhan Bekbolat, KHAZAR, Mirzhan Zhidebay and other artists will take the stage.
Almaty City Day this year will be celebrated on 19 and 20 September. In total, about 300 festive events have been planned in the city, and entry to the main city venues will be free.
Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle wrote that on 19 September a festive concert for Almaty City Day would be held on Abai Square. Ne Prosto Orchestra, the iconic group Dos-Mukhasan and Roza Rymbayeva will perform for guests.
