Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabosynov named a facility that is essential for Almaty. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the minister, congress and business tourism has high export potential. For instance, last year Kazakhstan organized 13 international events. The country's economy received about $18 million in revenue.
However, Almaty lacks a modern congress center for international events. "Almaty, as the main center of business activity, needs a modern congress-exhibition complex of international level. An appropriate decision must be made on this issue," Myrzabosynov said at today's government meeting.
To strengthen Kazakhstan's position in the international market, existing infrastructure constraints must also be eliminated, the minister added.
