Almaty authorities announced that the construction of the Kalkaman metro station is 97% complete. The station is planned to open in six months. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the Nauryzbai District Akimat, construction work is 97% complete. The project includes the construction of a 350-space parking lot and the creation of modern transport infrastructure for the convenience of residents.

The total length of the project from the Kalkaman station to the Barlyk market is 5.3 km of tunnels and includes three new stations:

  • 01Station I — along Alatau Avenue, near the Nauryzbai District Akimat;
  • 02Station II — near the intersection with Tole Bi Street;
  • 03Station III — on the territory of the Barlyk market.

The district akimat is confident that the launch of the new metro line will improve transport accessibility in the western part of the city and ease traffic on city streets.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that akimat officials said construction was ahead of schedule. With a two-year deadline, the station was built in about 11 months. The Kalkaman station was promised to be delivered in the first half of 2026.
